The collection is composed chiefly of logbooks and journals of various voyages, principally from Boston and other New England towns, and including whaling voyages, written by Charles Brewer, Elias Davis, Gilbert Howland, and others. Also includes some miscellaneous ship papers and notes on whaling grounds, 1879, made for use of ship captains by Aiken & Swift of New Bedford, Massachusetts.
